Panleukopenia cases on the rise
Panleukopenia, also called FPV, is parvo for cats. Unfortunately, we have seen more panleukopenia this year than previous years. Vaccinating your pets, cats and dogs, is vital to prevent the spread. We encourage all outside cats to be spayed, neutered and vaccinated too. Working together and vaccinating we can help stop the spread of this disease.
Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy, fever and dehydration. Once infected, sickness can escalate quickly so it is important to get your cat checked out asap if you notice any changes in behavior.
Treatment focuses on supportive care, such as fluids, anti-nausea medication, and sometimes antibiotics to prevent secondary infections.
